BGSAR serves the citizens of the Commonwealth, and other States as requested. Members are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Typically, we are called to provide man-power and K-9 specialists for urban and wilderness search/recovery request and/or
drowning. Additionally, our squad will provide support and assistance for the following tactical rescues that include, but are not limited to, high angle,
swift water and cave rescues, wilderness and urban search rescues. With the
acquisition of side-scanning sonar, we are currently
the only Kentucky based rescue squad
providing all of the following services by one team: rescue dogs,
cadaver dogs, dragging operations, and side-scanning sonar.

BGSAR became an affiliated team with the Georgetown/Scott County Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security in 1999.
