Application Requirements:
- General Requirements:
- Citizen of the United States
- Resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky
- Of good moral character as evidenced by a police background check and interview
- At least 18 years of age
- Desire to help and serve the community and your fellow man
- Attendance:
- BGSAR conducts scheduled meetings/trainings on the 1st Saturday and 3rd Sunday of each month, during the application and probationary period, attendance at these regularly scheduled meetings/trainings is required as well as 50% training attendance is required to remain active after being accepted as a full member.
- Members must complete these courses,
preferably within the first 90 days, to be able to attend and be an active participant on missions/searches:
- National Incident Management System- IS100
- National Incident Management System- IS200
- National Incident Management System- IS700
- National Incident Management System- IS800b
- Members must have completed these courses during the first year as a member:
- 20 hrs. Basic Search and Rescue(GSAR)
- BGSAR Ground Navigation testing on maps, compasses and GPS
- HIV/Blood-born Pathogen (KY intro/refresher, 2 hrs.)
- 16 hrs. Basic Man-tracking
- CPR Certification (Adult/Child/Infant CPR and Choking, 8 hrs.)
- NASAR SARTECH III Certification
