Application Requirements:
1. General Requirements.
- Citizen of the United States
- Resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky
- Of good moral character
as evidenced by a police background check
and interview
- At least 18 years of age
K-9 Handlers: Individuals with dogs interested in becoming K-9 handlers must be accepted as a probationary member with satisfactory attendance for 90 days, and complete the first year class requirements prior to bringing a dog to training.
2. Attendance
- BGSAR conducts scheduled trainings on the 1st saturday and 3rd Sunday of each month.
During the application and probationary period, attendance at these
regularly scheduled trainings is required as well as 50% training attendance is
required to remain active after being accepted as a full member.
3. Members must have completed these courses during the first year as a member.
- Basic Search and Rescue
- Search Management
- Incident Management
- Basic Water Rescue and Recovery
- CPR and First Aid
- National Incident Managment System - IS100, IS200, IS700
